I discovered about WEBTOON last 2017 and I have been reading different series from here, from romance to comedy and thriller to suspense. Here are some of my favorites released in 2020.
This is the first part of the blog with 11 WEBTOONS in the list. The second part contains 11 more.
The list is in no particular order.

The story is about a young man who has had enough of his life being a persecuted by the people around him because his father was a killer. His life then changes when he got a hold of a laptop that can erase memories with a press of a key.
What I love about this series is that it is like the Webtoon version of Death Note. While this is not sufficient to reach of how much of a masterpiece the anime was, the vibe is similar but it went to a direction really different from the anime. The violence and maturity, the plot twists and brain-wracking turn of events are both unexpected and somehow hard-to-believe but the series has good characters to follow.
The sad news is that you can't binge read it because it is under the Daily Pass system of WEBTOON. You can read 1 episode a day, wait for it to refresh to read more.

ROTTEN
by Goodguy
It all started with one of the rooms in the apartment having a really foul smell that disturbs the other tenants in the building. Time for a curious MC to find out what is wrong with it and call for help!
I can't read this at night so I always have to delay it and read in the morning because the graphics and the art is just really scary and so detailed! Especially the eyes! All of the scenes where the eyes makes an appearance is just so creepy for me. There are a limited number of characters in the series but you would really love them. All of them have their own backstories so tragic that you can choose and rank who's had it worse.
The ending was satisfying regardless of how tragic it was (for me). I love the character development the characters went through from the beginning up to the final episode. The only downside of this series is that it is under the Daily Pass system of Webtoon, it means no binge reading unless you are willing to spend for coins.

PIGPEN
by Carnby Kim / Beom Sick Cheon
We meet a young man who was wales up stranded in an island where he meets up with a strange family that runs an inn and takes him into their home. Strange things begin to happen and our main lead does not want to stay to find out. Or does he?
The first series I've read from Carnby Kim would be Bastard and then Home Sweet Home to which I also finished before the Daily Pass system decided to ruin the binge-reading for us. And I really loved the plot twists and each chapters is a page-turner that makes you want to see the next chapter instantly. PIGPEN is no exemption to Carnby's masterpiece. There is a plot twist at every turn, and the horror was taken to the next level. It was bearable for me to stay because there is a plot to look forward to and a mystery to unravel.
As tempting as it sounds, do NOT skip through episodes NOR peek through thumbnails. You will spoil yourselves.

Rot & Ruin
by Taylor Grant / Alempe
This is based from the book with the same name Rot & Ruin by Jonathan Maberry. Now I haven't read the book myself but there are so many comments saying that this Webtoon did justice for the book. The story setting is in a post zombie-apocalypse setting where the writer took yet another creative turn on how zombies are used as an element of the story. The cruelty of sending kids and adults alike to be pitted against zombies are cruel, the townspeople are blinded by the safety behind the fence while our main lead is about to discover more on what is outside and what kind of job his brother really does.
There are so many mysteries piled up one after another but it connects to each other. I don't love the male lead very much, but I can bear with his development. Neither do I feel like loving the male lead's partner. Who you will look forward to is the MC's brother and the mysterious girl.
What I also love about this is that there are NO daily pass limitations. Read and binge-read as you wish! I am not sure if there is a season 2 coming or this is a taste of what's in the book to promote the book, but just subscribe to be notified in advance.

Baka Tsuki!
by fujiwarakazu
And of course, how could I not promote myself, right?
I tried the Webtoon platform to release my yonkoma manga, inspired by the series of manga I've read over the years. Drawing, shading, coloring, and everything proved to be time-consuming and so there is only one episode available... for now.
The story is in a high school setting, slice of life on the life of Tsuki and her friends as they go through with their high school life. It's a simple premise, but it goes off from there.

Remi Do is a social influencer, she is loved by a lot of people and she posts literally everything about her, what she is doing, where she is, in her social media. But we all know where this leads, right? A stalker. And things go downhill from there. And I mean that in a positive way.
This is really, really scary and the scary scenes are justified. The detailed corpses, the blood, the gore, the brutality, and oh my goodness, the art! I could not put it down and I finished it as soon as all episodes are available. The author does not fail to make you think twice of your theories and assumptions, and just when you think you got the truth now, there is more coming.
It was an unexpected ending, with a little bit of trauma you could say, and our MC does not get a break and I feel bad for her best friend, but this one is worth the read. I don't know if there is more to come, but hopefully there is more coming pretty soon.

microHUNTER
B.Y / JRobin
As the name suggests, micro, means extremely small. The series is either magical or scientific because of that theme. All the people in the world shrinks to the point that ants are just about their level, everything else around them remained their original size. A pretty interesting twist, yes? There's more! Each person has a special ability that they can level up as the phases progresses. This is already a spoiler but I will stop with that.
Our main lead was away from home at the time of the shrinking, and his main drive is to reunite with his sister (who he left at home) but how is he going to survive the big world out there, with bigger animals and treacherous human beings in the way?
What I love about this is that it has a unique concept. As the series progresses, it's not as interesting as it once was, where everything was survival and teamwork. Of course there are jerks and morons introduced along the way, but that's what makes the story a story, there has to be bad guys. Just hope that things take a better turn for the third season. I don't want to give up on this just yet.

It's Mine
by LuckS
This series had a really good and very interesting start. You could say stalking is the trend back in 2020 because there are a lot of stalking stories to choose from and this is one of those that I've read.
We have a young man who was 'programmed' to protect this girl who is our deuteragonist. I don't remember if this was part of the premise, so beware of spoilers. The young man has been locked up in a room since he was a child, and only the picture of the girl as his motivation to do the activities he is tasked to do. Until eventually he is released and must protect her at all costs; thus the stalking vibe.
It had received less and less attention since its first episode, but I am still hoping that it picks up on the thrill and less on the drama and the very long explanations of this and that. I honestly am not a fan of any of the characters in this series, I am mostly here for the plot and see where this is going.

Down to Earth
by Pookie Senpai
Yes, one of my favorite Webtoons. This one I discovered before it took off and became a fan-favorite receiving 99,999+ hearts in every episode.
Another one of those unique love stories with a twist. And that twist is that Zay is an alien, not the green-looking thing with antennas, no, she is a beautiful young woman with the hunger for knowledge of Earth. Her spaceship crashes on Kade's frontyard and their friendship began... is it really just friendship?
This is in the romance genre but it's not like any of those cheesy romance stories, this one has more of cuteness level 100 to it, humor and comedy too. There are no direct bad guys in this series but it's so addicting and really, really good. The story has potential and the characters are adorable!

Viral Hit
by Taejun Pak / Kim Junghyun
This is one of my favorite Webtoons as well. It started well and it is still doing great by far, and the best thing about this is that, they release episodes twice a week!
Viral Hit premise starts with your classic bullying theme in school, but instead of gangs and mobs, the trend is NewTube channels. Our main lead starts off nothing but a loser and apparently, by some accident, while he and a classmate of his are fighting in his house, he did not realize that his webcam was streaming everything that was happening. iCarly vibes anyone?
And so began his NewTube journey with Snapper as his cameraman. The focus of his channel is calling out bullies and teaching them a lesson. V-Hit does not magically win his fights, he earns it by extreme work-out and training. And I have to say, the characters here are really good too. They are not prop characters and you get to love them as the series goes by. Each arc, the fight levels up and you would be left thinking how is he going to beat them. I heard from others that it is similar to Lookism (I haven't read yet). Other than the curse words thrown here and there, this is a series worth reading.

You've gotta be kitten me
by Bea R.
This is one of those series that does not exactly have a main plot to keep up with. It has a premise of a cat virus where all cats turned human but then it got fixed but there is this cat who remained human but still acts like a cat. It's like a yonkoma (four panels) in comparison to a manga.
Now it's not exactly as awesome as ZomCom or Boyfriend of the Dead, but this is worth the shot. It is not very long, it haven't even reached a hundred episodes yet so you can still catch up.
