Looking for something to watch? Well here is a list of movie recommendations that I've watched starring Sandra Bullock. She's starred in many great movies and no matter the genre, she just knows how to be that clumsy, funny character that we can't not love. Let's start!
Here are some that I watched but don't remember very much. I haven't re-watched them either so the plot is a little bit of a blur to me.
The Lake House (2006) where she plays as Dr. Kate
Watching this as a child, I really did not remember much of this film. But I think it's good. I think.
Premonition (2007) where she plays as Linda Hanson
Ah yes, one of her films that scared me for some reason. Again as a child, this seemed like some sort of suspense and the vibe just frightens me but it could be another masterpiece you wouldn't want to miss.
The Proposal (2009)
I don't know why I didn't remember this because she starred with Ryan Reynolds here. I should probably re-watch it at some point.
Gravity (2013)
Definitely did not remember this but I know it involves space.
The Heat (2013) where she plays as Special Agent Sarah Ashburn
This is your average law enforcement vs criminals kind of movie.
Demolition Man (1993)
It is a science-fiction action film. It basically starts off with introducing two of our stars; John Spartan (protagonist) played by Stallone and Simon Phoenix (antagonist) played by Snipes. You could say it is your average cop VS criminal kind of movie but it has a twist. Both of them under cryogenic sleep for a long time, they wake up to see that the world has changed. It was an era of peace.
Unfortunately, Phoenix escapes his cryogenic slumber is back to wreaking havoc in the city. With the new era having no experience dealing with such violence, Phoenix is far superior and is unstoppable.
Bullock plays Lt. Lenina Huxley, a woman fascinated of the 20th century. It was because of this fascination that she was chosen to handle Phoenix's case. And it was thanks to her that Spartan was awakened from his slumber and is back on track to hunting Phoenix. This is an old film but I appreciate the plot and action, it is quite entertaining.
Speed (1994)
Bullock sure has the chance to work with the bigshots. This time she stars with Keanu Reeves, Dennis Hopper and Joe Morton in this action-film. She appears as Annie Porter, one of the passengers in a bus rigged with bombs by a mad bomber. As usual, this bomber demands a ransom and our main lead, Jack Traven (Reeves) of course will not let that happen.
The whole plot would probably revolve mostly on the bus where they are trapped until the police can figure out who is behind the bomb-planting. Just like Bullock's role as Huxley in Demolition Man, her vibe is quite similar here. Talky, appealing, clumsy, helpful to the protagonist, except that she is just a civilian in this film.
Speed 2: Cruise Control (1997)
Three years later, Bullock reprises her roll as Annie Porter in the film's sequel, Speed 2: Cruise Control. This time there will be a little bit of cast change as the film will no longer focus on Reeves' John Traven, and instead will focus on Alex (Jason Patric) and Annie (Bullock) as a couple supposedly on a vacation in a cruise ship. You could expect that there is another mad antagonist (Willem Dafoe) that stood between their happy vacation to a wild ride of stopping the ship from crashing.
Even with the change in our cast, this is still a fun watch. The action and the comedy are balanced out and this is actually a fun sequel where the reprised role is not the main lead of the first film, but the support character.
Practical Magic (1998)
Starring Nicole Kidman (literally did not recognize Kidman in this movie) and Sandra Bullock. The two plays as the witch sisters, Sally and Gillian Owens. Their parents are dead so now they live with their aunts who teaches them how to use Practical Magic. Title drop! Boom!
Okay so while I loved this film as a kid, it also scares me. Basically they are witches, people don't like witches so they hide that fact. And most of all, they have this problem. They have a curse that the men they fall in love with will unfortunately reach their untimely demise which you could say devastated Sally (Bullock) who fell in love first. The two sisters had opposite personalities but they always have each other's backs.
The story gets serious when... well, I wouldn't want to spoil so you better start watching! Also, this might be considered as a cult classic of some sort. Be aware before watching.
The Prince of Egypt (1998)
Yes, one of my childhood cartoon movies. I have watched this over and over with my siblings but it never occurred to me that Bullock took part in this film. Bullock voices the character Miriam, who is the biological sister of Aaron and Moses. The character's singing voice is different though.
One of the most memorable parts of this movie are the songs. But overall, the movie is based off the story from the Bible where the movie focuses on the life of Moses and how he led the Jews out of Egypt through the power of the God.
Miss Congeniality (2000)
Never running out of great movies, this time Bullock is the main star of this comedy film. Bullock plays as FBI tomboy agent Gracie Hart. Yes you can imagine by now what this film is about.
Unknown terrorist threatens to bomb the Miss United States pageant and the organizer wants to keep the pageant going as usual. So FBI has one of their agents undercover while the investigation to identify the terrorist is ongoing.
What I love about this film, other than Gracie's clumsy and funny nature, is that we get to know the candidates (although not all) and they form friendships. Most of all there is the friendship of Gracie and Cheryl Frasier (Heather Burns).
Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous (2005)
Every successful good first film no doubt has to have a part 2. And our girl reprises her role as Gracie Hart right here. I love that Burns reprises her role as Cheryl Frasier even if she is a less important character here.
The story continues but with a new challenge of course, a new cast, a new team but overall does not change that Gracie is armed and fabulous. It's a good sequel but I would say I love part 1 still.
The Blind Side (2009)
This is one of the based on a true story kind of film that I actually enjoyed watching and don't mind re-watching. Bullock plays Leigh Anne Tuohy who is the adoptive mother of Michael Oher (an American football offensive lineman).
I know nothing about football and I sure am not much of a fan of sports but this one was quite inspiring that it has to make it to the list.
Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close (2011)
A drama film.
One of the films that I did not understand very much but watched it anyways because Sandra Bullock is there. The trailer was so good that we just had to watch it when it's out. Here, Bullock plays as Linda Schell, the mother of Oskar Schell (who is the main protagonist of the film).
The film's timeframe is within the 9/11 attacks. We get to see Oskar, an autistic young boy in denial of his father's death at the World Trade Center. We see him struggle and trying to find closure from his father.
Minions (2015)
Of course we are not missing out on Bullock voicing Scarlet Overkill in MINIONS.
One of the things I love about her is that she is so flexible with her roles. She could be a funny cop or a pageant contestant, be a daughter who wants to fall in love or be a mom or voice a villain and yet still she does it well. She's not limited to just the usual roles of gun swinging action and stuff.
I don't really have to say more, this film is worth the watch.
Ocean's 8 (2018)
I had just finished binge-watching the Ocean's trilogy when my sister told me that there was Ocean's 8 starring Sandra Bullock. She plays Debbie Ocean who is the younger sister of Danny Ocean (Clooney) from the original franchise. When I saw that Anne Hathaway and Helena Bonham Carter is going to be there as well, I told myself, yes I want to watch this film.
It's not bad but I would say that it is not as awesome as how the original franchise had pulled the heist. You could say that they win the comedy heist for this though compared to the first one.
Bird Box (2018)
How can we forget Bird Box?
Bullock plays Malorie Hayes in this post-apocalyptic horror thriller film. I wouldn't say its horror material but it is definitely one heck of a thriller. The way that we had to watch Malorie survive this crazy world had kept me in the edge of my seat. My seat only catches a break when the scenes takes a time off from the action and does all this talking scenes where characters get to know each other and stuff.
But overall, this is a good film. For me though it is more of a one-time watch than a repeated-watch.
Well then, you got the list now. Time to start watching!
Love the list thanks!
