Have you heard the legend of the magic mirror?
It’s a mirror of truths,
Amongst a hall of lies.
When you find it you’ll know,
Though you’ll wish you hadn’t.
For who truly wants the truth?
“Magic mirror, I finally found you!
Pristine and clean,
You look brand new.
Now, magic mirror, you know why I’ve come,
Show me my truth.”
“The pretty girl, who tries so hard.
Pretty eyes, pretty clothes, and a pretty new scar.
Yes, I see you, the scars you hide.
You may be pretty to some,
But do you feel pretty inside?”
Crack.
“Magic mirror, there you are!
It took forever, why’d you go so far?
Now that I’m here, would you be so kind,
As to show me my truth as you did and friend of mine.”
“Skinny, skinny, skinny.
How small you’ve become.
But skinny girls get stretch marks,
So why do you run?
The skinny girl is not the prettiest girl,
She will never be.
Skinny only makes it so you’ll never be seen.”
Crack.
“Magic mirror? Is that really you?
You're much different than what I've been told.
My curiosity has been piqued.
So I wonder,
What truth do you see?”
“You’re so, so smart,
But are you really?
What do you gain from the grades
You constantly work for.
What do books give you,
Other than another closed door.
The ones in groups,
may not be as intelligent,
But it’s truly smart
To find support.
You’ll only be the best
If you remain alone.”
Crack, crack, crack.
And so it goes, as time went on.
The magic mirror gave truths,
And the people wished for lies.
Retaliation it found, in it’s hall of lies.
So the legend was lost just as the truths had been.
Have you heard of the legend of the magic mirror?
It’s a mirror of truths,
Broken and shattered.
Abandoned and alone,
No one looks anymore.
For who truly wants the truth?
