𝟙𝟡𝟡𝟟 - Liar Liar (1997)

Jim Carrey had so many films that I loved. I couldn't name them all, but probably in another blog. For now, I wanted to mention the very first Jim Carrey movie I've watched, which is Liar, Liar. There's really no need to flex more of the plot, I just know that you will love it if you loved his other films.

𝟙𝟡𝟡𝟠 - Patch Adams (1998)

I've re-watched this movie every once in a while. There's a special place in my watchlist when it comes to movies that are based on a true story. While my research about this movie said that there are things inaccurately portrayed, mostly with the way Patch's methods felt more of a comical thing than what it was in real life. I honestly loved the film and I didn't look at it as a comical thing, even with the "clown" vibe he had. The way he used happiness and laughter as healing is quite true. One of my most favorite scene is when his rival doctor, who hated him, finally becomes an ally.

One of my favorite lines from him the rival doctor in that scene:

"She doesn't eat. I visited her room every day for the past three weeks. I can't get her to eat. Now I know everything there is to know about medicine. I've studied relentlessly. I guarantee you I can outdo, outdiagnose any attending or surgeon in this hospital. But I can't make her eat."

𝟙𝟡𝟡𝟡 - She’s all that (1999)

One of my guilty pleasures is finding a film where I know all or majority of the cast members. In this case, I surprisingly stumbled upon this old film while I was stalking similar movies that Freddie Prinze Jr. and Sarah Michelle Gellar had. While this isn't one of those movies, I was appealed by how many artists in the cast list I knew.

They had a remake of this in reverse (He's All That) but I have no plans watching it lol. This version though is actually really nice for a classic trope film. Oh and, seeing Freddie Prinze Jr. back in his prime? whistles I didn't know he looked THIS charming back in the day.

This is a high school romance film, lots of tropes, but somehow I managed to enjoy it.

𝟚𝟘𝟘𝟘 - X-Men (2000)

There's only two X-Men versions I actually enjoyed (as a non-comic reader). The X-Men: Evolution Series and this X-Men (2000) movie version. What really reeled me into the movie is the heartwarming friendship/father-and-daughter of Logan and Rogue. Especially this last part, it always gives me the feels when I re-watch it.

Spoilers!!!

I am kind of not really happy how Rogue's role from part 1 to part 3 in this franchise has developed. It's really awful (for me at least) and probably why X-Men: The Last Stand is my least favorite of the original trilogy.

𝟚𝟘𝟘𝟙 - I Am Sam (2001)

35 movies to watch from 1990 to 2024 (1 Movie per year) part 2/5 | Movie Marathon Idea - Floppi Pages

Watching this for the first time our literature class, I was really reeled into the plot. Young Dakota Fanning really did her role so well, and of course, Sean Penn.

I'm not a fan of drama films, it's one of the least genres in my watchlist because I either fall asleep or get bored so early on. But this is a family drama and the plot did its magic to keep me hooked until the end.

Sam Dawson (Penn) has intellectual disability who had a baby with homeless woman (and said unnamed woman abandoned their baby daughter whom he later named Lucy). Somehow, Lucy (Fanning) grew as this super smart, caring child. Issues arise when Lucy is about to/or already is beyond Sam's seven-year-old intellect and he might lose custody of his daughter.

𝟚𝟘𝟘𝟚 - Scooby-Doo (2002)

35 movies to watch from 1990 to 2024 (1 Movie per year) part 2/5 | Movie Marathon Idea - Floppi Pages

I'm not talking about the younger version Scooby-Doo with Robbie Amell. I'm talking about the OG Scooby-Doo with the OG gang. Two Freddie Prinze Jr. in one blog? That has to be biased! No, not exactly. Because it's not planned lol. I just listed down films I remembered released in said year. Anyways, fun fact. Matthew Lillard who portrays Shaggy is actually also in She's All That. Now do you believe me that that film is filled with artists we may all know?

I never get tired of re-watching this when I can. Love badbutt Daphne in pink and of course, special guest, Sugar Ray who sang Words To Me. Oh and, Rowan Atkinson is here too! It really irks me that he's not acting like Mr. Bean like I'm used to.

𝟚𝟘𝟘𝟛 - Peter Pan (2003)

Last but not the least!

Jeremy Sumpter was one of my favorite child actors and that's because of his role as Peter Pan. He's not too old-looking and not too baby-faced looking either. It's just about right. I've seen reboots of Peter Pan but nothing tops this one (for me). I do believe in fairies! I do, I do! I do believe in fairies!
